For this reason, perhaps some of the holiest shrines nestle in the inner reaches of the Himalayan in the most picturesque settings. The holy shrines of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri & Yamunotri are amongst the Holiest of Hindu Temples and are  collectively called the "Chardham" each of this situated above three thousand metres of sea level & is worth a visit as much for its religious significance as well as for the scenic surrounding. Badrinath & Kedarnath are devoted to Lords Vishnu & Shiva respectively & occupies white shelves in the beautiful valleys, while Gangotri & Yamunotri are dedicated to the female Goddesses, the rivers Ganga & Yamuna. The four shrines make a very exciting tour.
